How Do I Close a Checking Account?

Closing a checking account will usually require that you post a cash transfer in AccuBuild, assuming that you are depositing the balance of funds into a new checking account.

1.	Create the new checking account in the Ledger > Chart of Accounts.

2.	Post the cash transfer from the existing account to the new account.

3.	Go to Payables > Properties: Change the 'cash in bank' account as applicable.

4.	Go to Payroll > Properties: Change the 'checking account' as applicable.

5.	Go to Receivable > Properties: Change the 'cash in bank' account as applicable

Failure to change the default properties as applicable will cause new checks and deposits to be posted to the old checking account.
