Report Substitution

Top  Previous  Next

The Report Substitution option on the System Administrator Menu is used to replace an existing AccuBuild report with one that has been modified for your company by using Seagate Software's Crystal Reports Version 8.5 software.

Revised formatting of reports should begin by making a copy of the original AccuBuild report and saving it with a different report name. To find the name of the original AccuBuild report that you wish to copy, go to the report dialog screen and select the report.   The file name will be displayed in the bottom left corner of the dialog screen.  All AccuBuild reports are located in the \AccuBld8\Reports directory and any modified reports must be stored in the same directory in order to use the Report Substitution option.

Beginning with a copy of the original report is important for two reasons:  (1) this ensures that the existing parameters and data file names will be the same thereby preventing a run-time error; (2) customizations to the original report may be overwritten the next time an AccuBuild update is installed.

If the original report is accidentally changed, then the report may be restored by making a copy of the report from the AccuBuild program CD to your \AccuBld8\Reports\ directory.

1. To replace an AccuBuild report with your modified report, select File > Report Substitution and the select Add.

2.Select the name of the report that is to be replaced from the Original RPT field.

3.Enter the name of your revised report.   It is not necessary to include the Crystal Reports '.RPT' extension.

4.Select Save to record the replacement.

5.If the new report needs to be replaced with a second custom report, then select the replaced report from the list on the left side of the screen and select Edit. AccuBuild will not allow the same of the original report to be substituted by more than one report at a time.  If you want to revert back to the original report, simply Delete the report substitution.
