Menu Settings

The Menu Settings option allows the system administrator to assign security levels for each menu option which work in conjunction with a user's password. This option is only enabled when the current user has a security clearance of 10. Security levels range between 0 and 10 with 10 having access to the entire accounting system.

When the Menu Settings option is selected, each module purchased is displayed along with options for File (System Administration) and Help. Begin by selecting a module, File or Help. A plus symbol [+] next to any heading indicates additional menu options under that heading. Each menu option, including the module option itself, may be assigned a security level between 0 and 10. To enter the security level, right-click the desired option to open the security level field. All menu settings are defaulted to a security level of 0.

In order to access a module or menu option, the user must have a security level equal to or higher than the security level assigned to the option. For example, User A has a security level of 5 and the Payroll module has a security level of 10. Therefore, User A cannot access any activity or generate any report within the Payroll module. As another example, all modules and all report options are set to a security level of 5. All other menu options under each module are set to a security level of 10. Therefore, User A can generate reports within any module but cannot enter any data or post any transactions.

Note: As menu items are added to the program, it may be necessary to reset the menu toolbar in order to view the new items.  To reset the menu toolbar, select the drop down arrow on the top-right side of the main screen in AccuBuild, select the Add or Remove Buttons option, and then select Reset Toolbar.
