Indexing Tables

Top  Previous  Next

We recommend that you re index your System, Company, and User tables every week as part of your system maintenance.

Warning: The time required to create the selected index files varies with the type of file and the number of records in the file. NEVER TURN OFF OR RESTART YOUR COMPUTER DURING THE INDEX PROCESS, OTHERWISE THE DATA FILES MAY BECOME CORRUPT.

The index options recreate all of the System, Company, or User index files in case the files are erased or become corrupt. These index files are used to keep the various system data files in a specific sorted order. Each data file will have one or more associated index files and if any of these files become corrupted, they should immediately be recreated to avoid any errors.

When the OK button is selected, AccuBuild will begin recreating the index files. The progress bar at the top of the Index Tables screen and the AccuBuild Progress Information box both display each stage of the update process. The progress box displays alphabetically each file as it is re-indexed and the system will display 'Process Complete…' when the process has successfully re-indexed all of the files. The progress information will remain on the screen for the operator to review until the Close button is selected. If the system cannot re-index the files, an error message will be displayed and the user should call AccuBuild's technical support staff for assistance. The technical support staff may ask the user to print the progress information by selecting the Print button.
