Creating a New FS

Top  Previous  Next

The New button is used to create a new financial statement file. New statements can be created from scratch, or from an existing AccuBuild financial statement template file (recommended). In addition, if financial statements exist from the DOS version of AccuBuild, they can be imported directly to the new Windows format. When New is selected, the New Financial Statement dialog box will be displayed. Create a new financial statement format by selecting one of the following options:

1.To create a new statement without the use of any templates, simply enter the name of the new financial statement and click OK.  As long as the 'Import from' field is blank, a blank format will be created. Hint: Create a statement using one of the templates to get a better idea how the table works.  Once you understand the basic principles of a design, creating your own statement will be much easier.

2.To create a new statement using a template, select the AccuBuild Template option and then click on the lookup button on the right side of the 'Import from' field to display the available template files.  The templates contain the financial statement layout, but do not contain any general ledger account numbers.  The templates are stored in the \Accubld8\Samples directory. Click on the template name, click Open, and then click OK.

There are five templates available at this time:

Finst09.adt. - Monthly Activity Comparison - Prior Year vs. Current Year

Finst11.adt - Year-to-Date Activity Comparison - Prior Year vs. Current Year

Finst12.adt - Year-to-Date Budget Comparison

Finst14.adt - Income Statement (Month-to-Date and Year-to-Date Totals) and Balance Sheet

Finst15.adt - Income Statement (Year-to-Date Totals Only) and Balance Sheet

3.To import a financial statement from the DOS version of AccuBuild, select the DOS Format File option and then click on the lookup button on the right side of the 'Import from' field to display the available DOS format files. All of the DOS financial statement formats contain a 'FS1' file extension, and are stored in the SCIS\GL Directory where the DOS version of AccuBuild exists. Select the file name, click Open and then click OK.

4.The new statement will be assigned a statement number, and the new design will be displayed in the Financial Statements list.  Use the Edit option to change the design.
