Close RFI

Top  Previous  Next

This is the final step in the RFI process and will determine if the RFI process is complete or not.

The document flow when closing out an RFI will depend on whether the RFI answer is complete and whether or not the RFI will be associated with a Change Order Request (COR).  To close the RFI you must select one of the following close out options:

§Will Attach to COR – Use this option if a Change Order Request will be generated from this RFI.

1.The RFI record is marked as CLOSED on the project management log.
2.The Status Field of the RFI is set to Closed/COR making the RFI available for attaching to a future COR.

§Will NOT Attach to COR - Use this option if a Change Order Request will NOT be generated from this RFI.

1.The RFI record is marked as CLOSED on the project management log.
2.The Status Field of the RFI is set to Closed/No COR and the RFI will NOT be associated with any future COR.

§Amend – Use this option to create an amended RFI when the question has to be resubmitted for clarification.  This will start the process over again under a new amended RFI number.

1.The RFI record is marked as CLOSED on the project management log.
2.The Status Field of the RFI is set to Resubmitted.
3.A new RFI Entry is created automatically using an amended RFI number which simply add .01 to the current RFI number.  For example, if RFI number 55 is amended, the first amended RFI record would be number 55.01.  If it had to be amended a second time, then the second amended RFI number would be 55.02 and so on.
4.Start the RFI Process over again with the new Amended RFI.

NOTE: Any documents in the ADMS that were attached to the original RFI will be attached to ALL amended versions of the RFI as well so that the paper trail and supporting documentation is maintained throughout the entire life cycle of the RFI.

§Void – Use this option to void the RFI.
